Welcome to NFFE Local 2196
8/26/2009
From the President's Desk
Greetings Brothers and Sisters of Local 2196! My name is John M.
Chapman, (the M stands for Marvelous!) and I am your President and
chief negotiator
for all of us CIO workers. Today is a big day in our locals
history. We ,the IT folks for the FS, now have our own
website,(your looking at it!)
I, and the rest of the officers and Stewards are excited to present
to you an avenue for you to explore more in the Labor world and to
also better
inform yourself of your rights and benefits as a Federal Union
Member. With the creation of our Local 3 years ago, and thru today,
I have wanted
a better way to communicate important information, ideas and news
to all of you without filling up your inbox. I feel in this day and
age, having
a website to inform and guide you to where you need to go will work
great for us. Being spread out across the country like we are does
not give
a lot of time for face to face contact. We are including a brief
bio and a picture of the officers, Stewards and Partnership Council
members on
the site so you can put a picture with the name.
I hope for this to be a monthly column so we can be discussing
current events. Thanks for tuning in and checking us out. Any
suggestions for this
column or website should be addressed to me at (530) 968-5323.
ELECTIONS
As required under our by-laws, we are preparing for an election of
all positions within the Local. To be able to vote, you must be a
member.
Our elections will be by absentee ballot only and you must be a
member of our local, or transferred into our local, with at least 1
year as a
member of the union to qualify for holding an office. Officers to
be elected are: President, Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer,
Recording Secretary,
3 trustee positions. The process starts in Sept with a call for
nominations over a one month period. The next step is to compose
the ballot and send
it to all for voting over the next one month period. After the
votes are counted, winners are announced and the 3 year terms start
in January.
